In partnership with Highmark, Carnegie Mellon University constructed the new Center for Health, Wellness, and Athletics to enhance Tartans’ health and well-being for life. The 158,000GSF space services athletics and houses office & clinical space for Counseling & Psychological Services and University Health Services.
The state-of-the-art facility elevates CMU Athletics and provides modernized training and team-building spaces to take the intercollegiate program to the next level. The new facility will also be used as a recruitment asset for potential new student-athletes. Modernized training facilities provide integrated sport-specific learning technology, allowing student-athletes to enhance their athletic performance. In addition, athletic treatment areas offer students the latest treatments and support with a physical therapy room with advanced sports medicine options.
The Highmark Center offers both physical and mental health resources available to the CMU community with upgraded clinical areas and dedicated space for counseling and psychological services. The new University Health Services center features upgraded clinical areas for student wellness visits, as well as access to an outdoor Wellness Garden.
The Center provides students with new space for holistic student wellness, including a tranquil wellness lab, massage & meditation spaces, and private spiritual space. Students will access all Wellness Services through a welcome center concierge, who will provide them with the necessary resources to achieve their goals. The Wellness Lab combines traditional techniques with the latest technology to provide students with data to inform their wellness goals. A quiet prayer room provides space for both individual and group prayer and larger spiritual discussions among students.
