Carnegie Mellon University has constructed the new Center for Health, Wellness, and Athletics in partnership with Highmark. In an effort to establish the foundation for a lifetime of physical, spiritual, and emotional health, the 158,000GSF space will service athletics and house office & clinical space for Counseling and Psychological Services and University Health Services.
With dedicated locker rooms for each sport, the rooms feature several displays throughout for game review and team personalization. Athletes can connect their cell phones via Bluetooth through integrated audio systems allowing them to stream music through pendant ceiling speakers. Two B-Court gymnasiums accompany the existing multi-purpose Skibo gymnasium and space for athlete training & rehabilitation.
The Highmark Center for Health, Wellness, and Athletics also services wellness and mindfulness programming, religious and spiritual life activities, and clinical health services. With separate waiting rooms for sick and healthy patients, the Health Services Center provides care to students while avoiding contamination risks. On-site allergy and lab services ensure students receive the best care possible in a timely manner. A mindfulness & yoga room accompany private prayer rooms and individual meditation nooks.
