The #DreamTeam Reunites

At BrightTree Studios, open and efficient communication makes us who we are. In an industry of constant collaboration, it is crucial that we invest the time and effort into strengthening our culture, creating bonds, and cultivating an environment where our team can thrive. At our second triannual gathering of 2025, we did just that.

On August 19th, our remote team travelled from their respective cities to the company’s headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA for a three-day, in-office gathering.

We chose to divide and conquer, using team-focused cluster meetings to strengthen communication and address any concerns that had arisen since our last triannual meeting. The itinerary included BIM sessions, design team meetings, Bluebeam training workshops, and Telecom & Security check-ins. During these times, we exchanged effective approaches for standardization, worked through drawing challenges, clarified inconsistencies in BIM families, and explored the best ways to manage project history.

We also participated in teambuilding activities and discussions used to further cultivate our culture of open collaboration, respect, strategy, and precision.

President of BrightTree Studios and Synergy Media Group, Bill McIntosh, RCDD, CTS-D, PMP, shared the inspiring origins of both companies and the empowering mindset that built the foundation of our team. Acoustics Lead Josh Thede, PE, LEED AP, BD+C, WELL AP, led a workshop on “radical candor,” business leader Kim Scott’s leadership philosophy that balances genuine care with direct feedback. BIM Manager Katrina Ekman led hands-on teambuilding games that encouraged collaboration and added a sense of friendly competition.

But a company Triannual is never complete without its fair share of grilling, pizza socials, and out-of-office gatherings. On Thursday, the Dream Team took to Steeltown Paintball Event Park for an evening of airsoft, axe-throwing, VR games, and golf simulators. The outing made for the perfect mix of camaraderie and competition.

When the Dream Team gets together, it’s more than just a meeting – it’s a reflection of our firm’s ethos in action. We work to combine genuine collaboration, communication, and shared experiences to foster that trademark BrightTree Studios culture – a culture where not just our work, but our people, thrive.
