Grove City College’s first ever academic building, formerly known as Rockwell Hall of Science, has undergone a 50,000GSF renovation and 11,000GSF addition. The newly titled Smith Hall of Science and Technology now features leading-edge research and teaching labs, collaborative spaces for study, and innovative STEM technology, all designed to support the College’s commitment to a new wave of education.
Smith Hall includes specialized labs, aligned with the College’s fastest growing STEM majors. On the ground floor, the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering programs have gained a cutting-edge mechatronics lab, a biofluids dynamics lab, and other vital educational resources.
The first and second floors feature anatomy and microbiology labs, equipped with virtual anatomy tables designed for fully virtual dissections, while new medical technology for radiation studies now resides on the third floor.
In support of these upgrades, our team coordinated with Grove City College to ensure the new addition meets the security standards of the original STEM building that Smith now connects to. The facility incorporates video surveillance hardware and compatible lock types that create one unified and comprehensive security network.
The addition also includes a 40-seat classroom on the first floor, in which our AV team utilized a Thread power distribution system, which provides each seat with a lightweight, portable power hub. This allows students to charge laptops without disrupting workflow or losing focus during lectures. We reinforced AV infrastructure to maintain continuity between the existing and new systems, upholding Grove City’s architectural character while creating spaces built to further learning.
