Washington & Jefferson College
Recreation Center

Washington & Jefferson College opened an addition to the Henry Memorial Gymnasium: the James David Ross Family Recreation Center. The 30,000-square-foot facility features a three-lane walking/running track, three adaptable athletic courts, a multi-purpose studio for activities like yoga, a new wrestling room, and new offices and recruiting spaces for the athletics department.

The athletic courts were outfitted with 12 loudspeakers, two handheld microphones, and two lavalier microphones (all wireless), connected by a wall-mounted antenna and unified by an impressive digital network server, providing a comprehensive audio experience for athletes and spectators.

In the studio, a 60” LED screen and four corresponding speakers hang around the room, working in tandem with a Blu-Ray player and a handheld and lavalier wireless microphone system. The system is managed by a wall-mounted control panel and can be used to direct programs like yoga classes, dance rehearsals, or simply play exercise media like training videos or music. The wrestling room features a near-identical system (sans Blu-Ray player).

The center also includes a conference room with another 60” display and HDMI connectivity for content presentation, while an identical recruiting room features a 55” display. Additionally, all 16 coaches’ offices feature a 55” display with dual HDMI wall plates for training purposes.
