The Aircraft Maintenance Hangar at the Cherry Point Marine Corps base is one of the most secure spaces on base, with more secret internet protocol routers (SIPR) than any other building. The 60,816GSF, two-story structure houses essential aircraft facilities, including a 12-bay maintenance hangar, conference spaces, and administrative areas.
Inside the facility, 2 ready rooms have been designed to cater to occupants’ needs. Each room contains a flat panel display that users can connect their personal devices to through HDMI connection. Two command conferencing rooms accommodate video conferencing and in-person meetings. The facility also offers 12 secure briefing rooms, each containing dedicated flat panel displays with HDMI connectivity.
Within the Hangar, Marines will have access to several specialized maintenance spaces including a quality assurance bay, an aviation ordnance shop, an avionics shop, a maintenance control area, an aircraft frame shop, and a seat and canopy maintenance shop in addition to several storage spaces for equipment and extra parts. The Hangar is also equipped with bunk space and a dining area for those who have to spend an increased amount of time at the space.
Additionally, two pilot training rooms have been integrated into the Hangar, giving current and future pilots the space and tools to hone their flight skills. Classroom-style seating allows for instruction and training chairs with mobile display carts give trainees a hands-on approach to learning.
